Iraq began as a dependant British territory that was created out of three imperial at the end of the Ottoman Empire. The point of this is that the Iraqi people are used to this way of life. The groups that have been in power are not just going to roll over and let democracy take place. They feel they have a right to the reins of power in Iraq. This will not be an overnight or even five year solution. The United States cannot afford to leave right now or in the very near future. The Iraqi people have known fighting and war since as far back as history has been recorded.
