Robinson was the first African American to play Major League Baseball and became a legend before his time. It was the Dodgers first game and the stadium was packed with some people cheering for Robinson while others would say discriminatory comments. With no fear Robinson ran out onto the field and began his long career as, first basemen for the Dodgers. With the first pitch being thrown there was only anticipation lurking. The ball was hit right to the third basemen, Spider Jorgensen, and thrown across the diamond to Robinson to record the first out of the season and the turn of the century.
