The ebb and flow of light on this planet regulates terrestrial life and responsible for synchronizing the activities of all organisms. This daily cycle, called circadian rhythm, is important for organisms to be able to take advantage of opportunities for food, procreation and survival. We inhabit a planet that is bathed by sunlight which gives rise to life. Sunlight provides the energy that drives the growth of plants through photosynthesis and in the end, feed us. What is not widely know or well understood is the role that light, and in particular sunlight, plays in regulating our moods and offsetting the effects of depression.

Light regulates many of the body’s hormonal functions. It stimulates secretion of Melatonin, Cortisol, Growth Hormones as well other important hormones that regulate the body’s metabolism.
