Describe the goal and functions of the United Nations.
Upon the conclus5ion of WWII, the 1945 San Francisco Conference created the provisions for the United Nations. The purpose of this multinational organization was to promote international peace and security, settlement of disputes between nations by peaceful means, develop friendly relations with other nations, and the international cooperation to solve global social, economic, and cultural problems. To accomplish this agenda, the United Nations is divided into six departments, all having their own specific duties.
The U.N. charter gave the Security Council the responsibility dealing with threats to our international peace and security. There are five permanent members on the board and they include China, France, Great Britain, Russia, and the U.S.. Each member carries veto power over other the member's actions. There are also ten non-permanent members elected by the General Assembly.......
