Conclusion: Our results came out exactly like we expected. We expected the glucose to be able to diffuse through the semi-permeable membrane, and it did. We used the glucose testing strip to determine if the glucose did permeate the membrane, and the results came out positive, about 500 mg/dL. Also the results came out as we expected for the iodine and starch. We believed that the starch molecules were too large and would not be able to diffuse through the membrane. The starch molecules were not able to diffuse into the membrane, but the iodine was able to diffuse out of it. To improve on this lab, I think we should experiment with different types of substances besides glucose and starch. A substance that isn't quite as large as starch, but not as small as glucose. Also I believe that if we used actual urine and urea samples for this lab, our results would be more accurate. But overall I believe the experiment was successful.
