Cameroon is located in Western Africa, bordering the Bight of Biafra, between Equatorial Guinea and Nigeria. Its geographic coordinates are 6 00 N, 12 00 E.

In the northern plains, the Sahel region, the climate is semiarid and hot (7 month dry season). In the central and western highlands where Yaounde is located the climate is cooler, shorter dry season. In the southern tropical forest the climate is warm with a 4-month dry season. In the coastal tropical forest, where Douala is located the climate is warm and humid year-round. The climate varies with terrain, from tropical along coast to semiarid and hot in north.

Cameroon is currently disputing internationally over the delimitation of international boundaries in the vicinity of Lake Chad, the lack of which led to border incidents in the past, is complete and awaits ratification by Cameroon, Chad, Niger, and Nigeria.
