Obesity will become a leading cause of death in America.
There will also be new health problems related to the
disease and more people infected with these problems in
America and in other countries. These health problems include
heart disease, certain types of cancer, type 2 diabetes, stroke,
arthritis, breathing problems, and psychological disorders, such
as depression. Some of the factors leading up to this possible future are:
- Increased amount of birth defects in babies born from obese women
- When these babies grow up, they are more likely to suffer from
obesity, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and other health problems
- This creates a life cycle of serious problems that can be passed on from
- generation to generation
