United Nations

The United Nations (UN) was established immediately after World War II. In 1945, this international organization replaced the League of Nations. When the UN was founded, there were 51 members. Today, there are 191 nations now members of the organization. The Charter of the United Nations sets forth the purposes of the UN, they include: the maintenance of international peace and security, the development of friendly relations among states, and the achievement of cooperation in solving international economic, social, cultural, and humanitarian problems. It expresses a strong hope for the equality of all people and the expansion of basic freedoms. However, I believe the UN has outlived its usefulness. The United Nations' tactics are useless in the 21st century, they include: futile threats, flawed peacekeeping, and politics and economic interests seem to always come first.
