Abigail Williams, a teenage orphan who uses lies to bring down the Proctor family denotes the theme of vengeful. Abigail was an adulterous . Her love affair with John Proctor caused her emotions to spur wanting Elizabeth Proctor dead. Abigail used manipulation and lies to deceive her friends and the entire town. Abigail threatened to kill any of her friends if they mentioned anything about witchcraft and she even blamed Tituba for witchcraft. In addition, Abigail was selfish. In order to keep her innocence, she accused different people of doing witchcraft and "being with the devil." She also tried to kill Elizabeth Proctor with a curse thinking that if she was dead John would be all hers.
