In the dawn of the twenty first century, the Atlantic World is a diverse place. It is a region that has seen many events. Wars, revolution, slavery and culture are a small part of this regions storied past and why we study it. Several influences are contributed to the development of North and Latin America. British influence in the north paved the way to a society more powerful than any other in the history of the world. Spanish domination in the South America's gave rise to a new Spanish culture in the region. The French have left a lasting influence on many areas in Canada. The stretch of events leading from the sixteenth century to the present represents a time of stunning events leading us to study the magnificent rise of this newly discovered area.
There are several ways of interpreting the events of the past to incorporate them into the present. For example, the slave trade of the late seventeenth and eighteenth centuries marked the beginning of a whole new people......
