Holocaust not holocaust
A sixth grade student writes, "The Holocaust is not just a word used to describe something anymore. It is spelled with a capital H and is known to everyone as a great tragedy." (citation) There are countless acts of hatred throughout the world, on all levels of society, everyday. Many people use hate crimes and discrimination towards others as a form of punishment. People ask why, and the main answer is because of a lack of understanding, a lack of knowledge, knowledge of what has happened in the past. If young adults are taught about the Holocaust in-depth, they can make a difference. The difference they can make can affect the world. Yet it all comes back to the basic knowledge, the knowledge of past horrific events such as the Holocaust.
"… At the first second, after I had heard the question, I remained without an answer…. I was there in Poland and saw! .... Children must learn in order to know what the human mind can invent such a terrible thing......
