Ramses II was the 3rd king of the 19th dynasty. He was the most successful Egyptian ruler of that dynasty and probably any other dynasties also. He ruled for 67 years, and he lived to be over 90 years old. He was a great builder and famed warrior.

Speaking of a famed warrior, Ramses II had red hair, which back then said he was connected to the god set. Unfortunately Set was not one of the best gods; he was hated and scorned by Egyptians. Ramses II was proud to be a man of Set, so he decided to put his name in a better rank. Because Ramses II liked war and having lots of ground to rule upon, Set was the perfect god for him. He even decided to make a temple for Set.

Actually, Ramses II had many temples built in his name. He has the record for the most statues built for one king to date. He had many temples built for himself but at one point he built one for Nefertari, one of his many queens. Special temples for him and the Hittites were used to enhance the peace between the two......
