The peanut butter and jelly sandwich is the most basic of all snacks in the American food culture. It consists of peanut butter and jelly spread between two pieces of bread. To make one all one needs is two pieces of any sort of bread. The kind of bread that most Americans use can be found at almost any store that sells food. Peanut butter is made by taking the nut portion of peanuts, and smashing them together until a spread like texture is reached. Peanut butter comes in all sorts of styles and consistencies. Jelly is basically a fruit spread. It is a gelatinous like substance made of mixtures of fruit. Most people, when making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, use either strawberry or grape jelly. After all the ingredients are acquired, simply lay the two slices of bread down. Take two different knives to scoop the peanut butter and jelly out of the jars.
