There is a common impression in the West that China is an underdeveloped country. This idea has been historically documented as a long- standing bias. While China is an enigma in the western mind, the culture has a legacy of innovations in medicine, technology, and mathematical mastery. Although the social and philosophical differences between the east and west create a climate of misunderstanding and misinterpretation, it is ethnocentric to attribute those differences to societal immaturity.
