In A Bronx Tale Calogero not only needs both Sonny and Lorenzo but he is caught between them. They both have two almost exactly opposite ways of viewing things, neither completely wrong nor right. Since he was a child Calogero looked up to his father yet he still couldn't help but try to mimic Sonny. They were sort of a ying and yang of life. Calogero wanted the best of both of those worlds. The conflict started to happen when the two worlds collided and he started to defy his father Lorenzo to follow Sonny and what he thought was right for him.
For instance even when he was young and he was sneaking to the Sonny's hang out to work for Sonny. He and Sonny felt he earned the money he worked for but his father didn't want him to have......
