Lord of the Flies deals with universal truths because many of the characters have characteristics we can relate to which makes the book more interesting. One of the characters is Jack. Throughout the book Jack wants to be the leader of the boys on the island. Jack also does not like work. He likes to go out and hunt, Jack considers hunting as fun, have parties, and do whatever he wants. We see this because he is never working and is always out hunting. Even when he finally becomes the leader he does not take responsibility. All he does is hunt and party. We see that he is not responsible because he throws a party and they get so carried away that someone was killed. Jack's character makes the book stronger because Jack possesses the same ruthlessness and savageness that is in many of us and we can relate to that.
